Workshops, training & mentoring

I would love to lead more training sessions and workshops!

Here are some things I’ve done before:

Editing Surgeries

I led 1:1 editing surgeries as part of A New Direction’s Skills For Life: Podcasting programme, a free 7-week course for Londoners aged 18-30 interested in developing skills in audio. I provided feedback on the cohort’s works-in-progress and helped them to solve various technical and editorial challenges. I loved the varied nature of the sessions. With participants all being at different stages of the making process, we workshopped a whole range of things including story structure, approaches to sound design, and tools and shortcuts in Adobe Audition.

Presenter Training

I co-led presenter training for a team of curators at Serpentine, working closely with producer Jesse Lawson. The primary aim of these interactive sessions was to equip participants with the skills needed to present a podcast and speak confidently on mic.

Mentoring

Outside of audio/film, I have been a volunteer mentor with Hope for the Young. I met with a young person for weekly sessions over a period of six months, supporting them in defining and working towards a set of personal development goals. Through this role, I also developed a better understanding of the UK asylum system and the fundamentals of a trauma-informed mentoring approach.
